The climate is crucial to the survival of our planet. But climate is also a core part of every nation\u2019s identity. As the climate now changes rapidly, something is also shifting within us as humans. We develop a conflicted relationship with things like snow. One day, we mourn the lack of snow during a mountain holiday, and the next we curse the heavy snowfall in the city as we dig out our cars.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since 1986, Bigert & Bergstr\u00f6m have observed these changes and transformed them into powerful art\u2014ranging from sculptures and installations to performances and moving images. But above all, Mats Bigert and Lars Bergstr\u00f6m have sparked reflection in their audiences. With humor, creativity, and a near-scientific precision, they visualize the societal issues we often prefer to ignore. Suddenly, reality becomes visible. The global temperature is rising. Glaciers are melting. The Freeze (2015) drapes an emergency thermal blanket over the summit of Sweden\u2019s shrinking Kebnekaise. The upcoming project Wasteland Climate Action exposes the consequences of urbanization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
